Once we landed in Fort Smith, I raced to the stables to see Thunder Clouds. He snuggled up against me, and we had a moment of complete peace. He was my best friend. He had listened to all my problems over the years. I didnât know what I was going to do without his sympathetic ear. He was getting older though and I didnât know how much time I had left with him. I just couldnât think about it. Losing him would be the worst thing that ever happened to me. But I was getting ahead of myself. He'd be here for years yet.
